The restaurant was built between 1956-58 by Cezar Lazarescu, one of Romania’s most famous architects, who also had designed Bucharest airport. 

Although the Casino Restaurant was a popular amenity during communist times, the complex suffered a period of decline during the 90s.

It was briefly re-opened in 2014 under the name ‘Chateaux Casino’, however after a year, its doors closed once more.
